I remember that day. We were on the beach, and Klaus started taking my picture. The beach was empty- just the two of us and a gorgeous golden sunset. Klaus shot until the sun went down.

Duchess looks out the window wistfully - "I do go on trips with Klaus, and yes, the other girls talk about it."
"I like spending time with Klaus, and he likes spending time with me. And the trips...they're a lot of fun." When Klaus goes on business trips, I usually go along with him. He says I'm there because it's part of my job. To keep him organized, to make sure he is at the right place at the right time. Then he will buy me a new dress, or a necklace, "To fit in with the locals" he'll say. |
We once spent three days in the countryside photographing roses.
I packed picnic lunches and had water for Klaus. I sat under a tree reading while he moved from flower to flower, like a little bee. Those days were luxurious. In the evening I'd pour him some wine and he'd tell me about what he'd seen. He always brought in a flower and gave it to me. Sometimes it was beat up from being in his pocket all day and he would say, "When I picked that rose, it was the most beautiful rose in the world. A few hours in my pocket doesn't change that." Actually, it did. but I never told him that. |
